Many things can be said about music, and in particular about Jazz Blues.  Nothing in words, however, can ever come close to  what the experience of listening live to Magic Slim and the Teardrops.  Having been exposed to his story (soon to be published in video documentary format produced by Peter Carlson) through my involvement with Peter's production, being in Magic Slim's presence is standing at the center of the very core of what Jazz Blues is all about.

Magic Slim is the personification of the essence of the blues art form in every aspect of his presence. One can feel the purity of the character by just observing the man in action either on or off stage.  There is no pretense, no acting dramatics, or any attempt at impressing anyone.  Instead, all there is, is Magic Slim, the personification of a life totally dedicated to a passion so intense that not even the greatest challenges that stop most mortals stopped him from giving to humanity the vision of a universe that only his talent and spirit can create.
