AT THE PORTER HOUSE A NEW MOOD IS BORN WITH PURE IMPROV JAZZ

I got a call from Chuck Dodson asking me how he could get a hold of Juzeh.

He was putting together a new group of musicians and had herd of my son.

...And a something new was born out of Chuck's new ideas.  He has created a space where young musicians of all ages can come and jam on the weekend evenings.

The newness of this group is a combination of exploration, passion, and pure love for improv jazz.

When you go up to the second floor of the Porter House on the weekend evening you walk into a "mood" rather than a "style".  There is something magical about witnessing first hand this musical dance of creativity.  I would call it a kaleidoscope in which the components are a pure joy for the music being played, freedom of expression, talent, and harmony.

In another plane of manifestation there is a clean sense of spirituality to the way the group relates among themselves.  The blend of extremely seasoned technique that comes with a lifetime of dedication blends with the baroque and passionately young vibrancy.

The result of these dynamics created a multitude of expressions leading to a constantly changing of fresh and pure music.

What I enjoy as an extra of rare nature is the wisdom that pours out of these creative musical times is flow of emotions that cloak the whole space: The permission that these musicians give to themselves and each other to share their passion for their art, the daring of experimentation, the inspiration to each other.

Chuck has created something new in the form of musical entertainment that revives our hearts, keeps us constantly engaged on what is flowing through the room.  With the musicians trading instruments among them in the middle of the flow is so delicious!  It is like sharing a 50 year old Cabernet-Sauvignon-du-Pape with your best friends!!!

While on an everyday case we see the group end their session, say goodnight, and breakdown the equipment, and live with slumped shoulders from another long night of work to entertain their clients with their skills and repertoires, these guys at the end of the night when they are through with their contractual obligation, they turn right around and start to jam with anyone who wants to play.

This is in fact one of the richest musical experiences anyone can wish for as an art form.

Visually, the "letting go" of the body so it becomes just another tool to express their music, becomes additional entertainment.  These group does not plat to the audience, they play to the Soul and to the passion in their hearts.  It is the audience that plays to their music and are taken to new horizons and dimensions that extend outside of their heart and mind...

The unique thing about this experience is that engages the listener to opening their imagination and creativity in going along on this musical  ride with a sense of "newness" and participation.

If you want a dose of "living in the moment" and "don't worry be happy" combined with action of body, mind, and spirit, you must experience this group because the good-old-days of historical jam jazz are freshly alive here at  the Porter House in Hot Springs, AR

Bob Benoit is a greatly loved musician who almost died right before this last Christmas of 05. He got pinned between cars as he was placing some of his equipment in the back of his vehicle.

This is a benefit that musicians and friends put together to raise funds to help Bob with his very heavy medical bills and living costs. If you click in the picture, you will go to another page in progress that will have more images and information.
